The 2017 branch Annual General Meeting, which took place on the Wednesday 24th May, was attended by twenty two members. After a reading of the previous Annual General Meeting minutes these were passed as a true and accurate record of that meeting. After this the President read aloud his report to all present. The Treasurer then presented his 2016/17 financial report and distributed the Statement of Accounts, which highlighted the major financial events of the year. The Treasurer moved that the audited performance report for the year ended 28th February 2017 be accepted by the branch. This was accepted. This was followed by a reading of the 2017/18 budget. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Treasurer for a job very well done, our accounting is in great shape. A member even commented on the night that the financial reporting at this AGM was the clearest he had ever encountered. High praise indeed.

Our thanks go also to Brendan Lyon of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd on behalf of all members of the branch. The audit of our accounts was again generously completed by them on a pro bono basis. The Treasurer moved that Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd be retained as honorary auditors for the current financial year. This was approved.

After the conclusion of the above presentations, the 2017/18 committee was elected. As per our constitution, all standing committee members are automatically nominated unless they decline their nomination or have not confirmed their acceptance in writing if not planning to be present on the night of the Annual General meeting.

I am very pleased with the make-up of your new committee, we have retained many skilled and dedicated members from the previous committee, whilst also attracting nominations for younger members and a committee member from previous years. I am quietly confident we will see many new ideas and initiatives coming to the fore as a result of this.
To those of you who turned up to assist at the working bee and measuring morning on the 28th May, may I offer my thanks. I was away to the South Island for the weekend and unfortunately missed both events. Feedback so far received has been nothing other than positive. A great effort by all.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of a few key dates in June.

Starting at 9:30am on Sunday 11th June is the Centre Fire aggregate competition No.1 for 2017. This is shot at 100m, and consists of 5 rounds prone, 5 rounds kneeling, and 5 rounds standing. General practice is permitted on benches and any unallocated lanes during the competition. Come along and give it a go.

Starting at 9:30am on Sunday 25th June is the 100m Rim fire aggregate competition No. 1 for 2017. This is also shot at 100m, and consist of 5 rounds prone, 5 rounds sitting, and 5 rounds standing. General practice permitted on benches and unallocated lanes for rim fire only.

Another date for your diaries is Wednesday the 28th June. This will be our prize giving evening, all are welcome.
